Feast of St Augustine

Saint Augustine
Today is the feast day for St Augustine of Hippo. It is said that Plotinus, Augustine, and Boethius are the intellectual founders of the Middle Ages. If you immerse yourself in them, you will learn much about God, human nature, and the role of Fortuna in your life. Here is one of his prayers:

Breathe in me O Holy Ghost, that my thoughts may all be holy.
Act in me O Holy Ghost, that my work, too, may be holy.
Draw my heart O Holy Ghost, that I love but what is holy.
Strengthen me O Holy Ghost, to defend all that is holy.
Guard me, then, O Holy Ghost, that I always may be holy.
Amen.

  1. To those who have passed, may we rediscover ourselves in what is Holy

  2. It is curious that besides being the burial place of Saint Augustine, San Pietro in Ciel d’Oro contains in its crypt that of Boethius, who is accorded local sainthood.

  3. Thanks for reminding us.
